Effect of pneumatic compression device and stocking use on symptoms and quality of life in women with lipedema: A proof-in-principle randomized trial


A prospective, randomized, proof-in-principle study to evaluate the effectiveness of Flexitouch Plus (FT) with conservative care to conservative care alone in 26 women with Schmeller Type 2-3 lipedema and secondary lymphedema.

The study showed that:

  • Patients receiving FT and conservative care had better improvement in leg circumference and bioimpedance measurements
  • Leg pain, fatigue, and tightness in both groups were improved
  • Quality-of-life scores suggested improvement
